About Us

5th Avenue was conceived around 1982 by Tom Landry, Tracy Menard, Brent Guidry and Errol Girouard. Brent, Tommy and Tracy are the 3 original members remaining in the group today. The band played local and regional night clubs and many high school proms during their infancy. They grew in popularity due to their delivery of the music. They wanted each song to sound just like the record so they tried to get the synthesizers and vocals to sound exact - and they did. Throughout the years many local musicians played with 5th Avenue during their 8+ year run including Tony Goulas, Steve Fullington, Charlene Howard, Danny Williams, Tony Ardoin, Errol Girourd, Marcus Elizondo and Jim Sides. Then came high energy music in 1988 of Stevie B, Expose’, Dino, and many more. Charlotte Elizondo joined the band and added the female persona for that era of music. Also, joining the group during that time was Jim O’ Brien, John Couvillion and Larry Max. The band then broke up in 1990. All members continued to play music locally and Tom moved to Hawaii for 7 years. Tracy went on to play with many local bands including Zachary Richard, Wayne Toups, City Limits, Louisiana Red & Richard Lebouef just to name a few. Both Tom and Tracy got married and Tom soon missed home and returned with his wife Johanna and 4 children. In 2006, local radio personality CJ from KTDY had an idea to have a “Cedar’s Reunion”. Cedars was a night club in Franklin Louisiana where 5th Avenue started their journey in the early 80’s, and we were asked to put the band back together for one show. After much thought Tom and Tracy decided to put that band back together with the original members Tom and Tracy, Brent Guidry, Marcus Elizondo and Errol Girourd. Our original sound man, Whitney Menard passed away in 2006 of cancer. That night sparked the fire to put 5th Avenue back together and the rest is history. Currently, 5th Avenue is comprised of Tom Landry, Tracy Menard, Bryan Perrin and Brent Guidry and returning member Tony Goulas. The band is still playing all the old school favorites along with cajun, zydeco, swamp pop and jitterbug. Visit our contact page and make 5th Avenue part of your special event.
